Who are Laxmi Jewellers
Laxmi are a family business who have been a feature of the local community in Walsall for 30 years. Their jewellery business is based on Wednesbury Road in the town, but as well as retail, they are also wholesalers who supply to other jewellers all over the country.
To secure the front window from further attack, and to install an inter-locking door system (see photo). Not just that, to make the appearance of the shop much more appealing from the outside.
Explained Mr Verma: “Prior to our Warrior doors we had barred doors, and it didn’t look very welcoming, to be honest – we wanted more of an appealing shop door look than a fortress, and thanks to Warrior there’s a more pleasant aesthetic appearance to the visitor.”
Most importantly, Mr Verma was investing in a Warrior door to protect and secure both his stock and his staff.
There have been no incidents at Laxmi Jewellers in Walsall since the installation of the interlocking doors and the secure window.
Said Mr Verma: “The challenge was to stop potential break-ins and raids, and installing a Warrior door has achieved just that. Once you enter our store through the first door, the second door can only be opened after the other one is shut. And you simply cannot smash in a Warrior door and get through – so what that means is that a gang can’t send someone in initially to get through the first door, then hold open the second one while other gang members smash their way in.
“Any potential raider looking at that will think long and hard about even making an attempt, and we did keep one of our barred doors, so that visitors to our premises have to come through not just two, but three doors before they finally enter.
“And even if someone tried to enter with a hidden weapon they couldn’t escape without being apprehended. Sure, they could run out through the barred door, then even the second door, but once that is shut they are trapped.
“Does it put people off coming in? Not at all. Indeed, when customers come into our store they know they are safe and secure.”
Mr Verma says it is not just the doors that have made him so appreciative of the products Warrior Doors provide, but also dealing with them from start to finish was ‘a pleasure’.
“The process from the moment I first contacted Brett Barratt (managing director) to the installation of the doors and window was great, not a problem at all, and I would have no hesitation at all in recommending not just the product, but the company as a whole to anyone and everyone.
“Actually, I’m a bit of a trailblazer for Warrior Doors – loads of people who are ‘umming and arring’ about investing in securing their premises are visiting us, taking one look at what we had done, and then putting in their order.”
“I simply cannot understand any jeweller who fails to see the merit of an interlocking door,” said Mr Verma.
“I recently walked into a jewellery store through just the one door, and asked the owner if this bothered him. He told me he’d had no problem in 20 years, so what was the problem? The problem is that with other jewellers taking steps to secure their premises as we’ve done, those who are not doing likewise are becoming more vulnerable to the chancers.
“You work hard to build up your business, but unless you protect yourself, it can all be taken away from you in just a few minutes. Pro-active is much the better way to be than re-active: be ahead of the game, and don’t let the criminals beat you!”
